Dynamic Fracture Properties of Titanium Alloys
نویسنده
چکیده
Fatigue precracked specimens of three titanium alloys (6Al-4V, ELI, and Timetal 5111) were dynamically loaded in a drop weight tower system while the dynamic fracture toughness was inferred using Coherent Gradient Sensing, crack opening displacement, or strain gage methods. A comparison of the initiation toughness of the three materials as a function of loading rate and specimen thickness is made.

The intergranular crack propagation of the lamellar structure β titanium alloys is investigated by using a modified Gurson-type damage model. The representative microstructure of the lamellar alloy, which consists of the soft α phase layer surrounding the hard grain interiors, is generated based on an advanced Voronoi algorithm. Both the normal fracture due to void growth and the shear fracture...

Effect of ageing on the mechanical properties of Al-6Mg alloy doped with 0.4 wt% scandium and with or without trace zirconium and titanium is studied. As cast, samples were aged isochronally for 60 minutes at different temperatures up to 500C. The evaluation of tensile properties of the aged Al-6Mg (Sc, Zr, Ti) alloys was conducted by employing an Instron testing machine. Various strain rate of...

متن کاملInvestigation on Mechanical and Electrical Properties of Cu-Ti Nanocomposite Produced by Mechanical Alloying
In this paper, Cu-Ti nanocomposite synthesized via ball milling of copper-titanium powders in 1, 3, and 6 of weight percentage compounds. The vial speed was 350 rpm and ball to powder weight ratio kept at 15:1 under Argon atmosphere, and the time of milling was 90 h. Obtained powders were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and dynamic light scattering (DLS)....
